Greg, We are very interested in the DPS PAR board,,, but have concerns about the quality,,, We shoot, edit, and animate strictly in BETA SP, our clients request and demand only the highest quality,,,Can the PAR outputting in component mode come close to single framed BETACAM,,Has anyone put out a PAR demo reel that has been output to BETACAM,,,We are ready to buy is the quality is right (pc version)… Thanks,,, David — Training Media Services,,,,

David, The PAR and the MAX (with only one disk drive) can be concidered "sub-BetaCAM SP" at a throughput of 3-3.5 MB/sec. The MAX Matrox Animation Xpress) with 2 disk drives, it can do 7 MB/sec thruput and would be BetaCAM quality. Ang

David: I would not have you think that any of the three PC digital disk recorders, the PAR, MAX, or Bandit, will equal your BetaSP. They will come close, and at times look similar, but not be a replacement. In a high end production house, the PAR is extremely useful for a test render and preview system because of its speed and ease of use. There are some clients who can use it for final output, but that depends on the markets you are in. Greg Pyros [Pyros Partnership, Inc] gpyros@pyros.com 21-Jan-94 at 11:30p PST
