I want to use a series of tgas for an animated bkgrnd, all well and good but how do i see other than the first frame using 'see bkgrnd' so as to keyframes an object relative to objects in the bkgrnd scene. I've tried file*.tga as well as file.ifl for the bkgrnd image and either give only the 1st frames of the seq. as the proxy image.

I suspect you may have to sample the sequence, i.e. use every 10th or 15th frame as the backgrnd and key from that. Interesting question. I don't think I've ever heard this one posed.

Simple! Just go to the frame in the KF and then select that correspondingly-numbered background in the background-bitmap slot. – G
