Brian,
All this discussion about whether the glass is half full (optimism) or
half empty (pessimism) is doing the Amiga very little good. For me, the
important thing is that there is still some water in the glass (Amiga
assets). Now how do we go about preserving and developing those assets to
their greatest potential. I would like to see an on-line conference hrer
in this forum for just that purpose. I for one am willing to put my money
and time into the effort.

We could and should restart the Sunday night conferences here. It used to
be that every Sunday at 9pm EST there was a non-formal online meeting of
all of the Amiga forums.
It is high time we get this started again.

Great, how do we go about it? Was there a prepared agenda for these
conferences? What about inviting someone like David Pleasance to a
conference, so that he may explain his vision for the Amiga and what kind
of support he would like to see from end-users, software developers etc?
Alternatively how about scheduling a conference for the purpose of
discussing the formation of a support group for the continnued growth and
development of the Amiga Platform? I agree with you, Mark, it is high time
that the collective "we", which is the backbone of the Amiga, get started
in promoting the platform we love so much!

Inviting Pleasance is an excellent idea. He should obviously want to come and
"speak" with this group. What about the idea of gathering together a number of
questions about a week before the conference – much like Jim Plant is doing in
the Toaster Forum regarding the Flyer. Somebody would then need to consolidate
and logically sequence the questions. Then, I would suggest sending the
question to him and have him (his Office) answer all the questions and put that
file on line.
In the true spirit of interactivity, he may also have some questions he would
like to address to this forum and our answers can also be synthesized for his
review prior to his completing his responses..
The Forum would then start from a fairly high playing field where some concerns
and information already had been exchanged.
Just FYI … An invitation to Mr. Pleasance for a formal conference here
has been extended. I do not yet know if he will accept. The invitation
was extended to him last Thursday, the day before he flew to New York for
meetings. Hopefully we'll know sometime this week if he'll accept.
While Mr. Pleasance's group is currently the hot news topic there is at
least one other serious bidder who, the rumor mill suggests, has at least
10 times more cash in hand than Mr. Pleasance's group. Don't be suprised
at new names being mentioned or old ones being brought up again.

I hope Pleasance accepts and also, if some other company is successful, that a
senior representative also comes on to the Amiga airways.

There is already work going on trying to get him here. No details as of
yet.
The Sunday Night conference is not a formal affair–rather open discussion
about any topic.
It is not moderated at all.
I'll see you all Sunday night though!
