And here's a tip for anyone who's going to buy that Bernoulli (I strongly recommend them — you'd have to pry mine off my dead fingers with a crowbar): The Bernoulli 150 on the Amiga has a default spin down time of 30 minutes. In other words, if there is a period of inactivity that is greater than 30 minutes, the drive will physically spin down and go into a wait state. When you attempt to access the drive, the drive should spin back up, as I am sure it does, however if you are using and Amiga 3000 or and A2091 card, more than likely, the computer will freeze. WHY? Because of reselection. For some reason, the 3000 and 2091 cards which both use the Western Digital SCSI chip do not like the reselection on the Bernoulli 150. The SOLUTION: When you use your formatting software (HD-Toolbox I believe) there is an option to tell the computer that you wish not to use the reselection command. Under Change Drive Type, under edit old drive type, there is a line that says: Supports Reselection? Y/N. Change that flag to read no. Then format the Disk. If you already have data on the Disk, make sure you back the disks up before reformatting, as all data will be lost. If you change the reselection flag, the drive will spin up and the computer will not lock. All will be happy. Your second question was about putting the Bernoulli on its side.
