Anyone have experience doing any real estate videos of homes for sale
?
I have a potential client in a local real estate agency. It seems
they have access to this public access channel and want to do 30
minutes a month.
I told them I didn't think my Hi-8 stuff was good enough for that but
they insist the cable station has told them to just get them a good
VHS 30 minute show.
I did this once for my sister on a potential house in Florida (they
lived in NJ). It turned out much better than I had supposed. I went
from room to room getting pans of the major features. Lighting is
something I'd have to invest in though.
Anyone know what agencies typically pay for this. I've not talked
directly with them yet. My room mate is an agent and has been
impressed with the training videos I've been doing with my Hi-8 and
toaster. I would think there would be a lot less editing than I'm
currently doing ( 2 second edits even ).
Just wanted to see if anyone is making a living at this. It would be
one a month.
Hi-8 ought to be plenty good enough for cable access channels. I don't
know if you catch any of the stuff that goes on, on these channels,
but Hi-8 would be a step up from most of the stuff there, even a
commercial venture like you're talking about.
If you're going to be making money at it, you might want to look into
a used commercial camera. You can sometimes pick one up used for the
same price as a good Hi 8 rig, and the quality is going to be a lot
better than most everything on Public Access. As for making money at
it, that will depend on how much you can get for your work, whether
you live in a big enough market to make it worthwhile for the
realtors, and whether you can expand into other areas such as wedding
videos, training videos, etc. Sean in Stillwater.
You aren't kidding, I worked on a Cable Access Show Last year. I did their
55 second opening Animation. their Field Camera is an old VHS MONSTER not
even a old Pro Camera either a old RA consumer Camcorder. I cringed when I
saw that, I also cringed when they FF past the Color Bars I'd Laid on the
Tape 😉
I have experience in this area, just the experience not the profit. My area,
southern Michigan, simply wasn't ready for this service, as a stand alone
promotional video for specialty properties, or for a cable show. Anyway, I
have done approx. 8 of these shorts using consumer equipment, and a Toaster or
DPaint and a FrameGrabber. Yes, you could get some better equipment but hey,
you may as well give it a shot with the existing set up. I'd be happy to send
