#jx100

Hi,
I recently got hold of a second hand SHARP jx100 with the scanlab100
software (version 1.2 dated 7 march 1990, rom 1.0c)
As I run into some troubles on my A4000 regarding the screenresolution
the program opens in (I only see half of what's available) I was
wondering if an upgrade or a patch was available and how I could
obtain it.
Have you tried using mode promotion with your Amiga 4000? The option
is availiable in the Amiga IControl program (located in your Prefs
drawer) This should force the screen of the scsnner software to a
better resolution.
I did indeed. I even tried to promote the screen using one of the
many PD screen promotors I have (this one called Force Monitor) but
to no avail. It's just sad that I can use the soft but have to guess
half of what's on the screen. 🙁
I find this problem fascinating as The scanner software has no settings for
running
in a screen mode other than NTSC:High res Laced. What screen mode do you run
your Workbench in?

That's an easy one to answer, I run almost evrything on multiscan
productivity. I did find out in the meantime that I can see the
whole screen of the scansoft if I promote the screen to ntsc (no
other specification), after doing so the screens open in NTSC:High
res laced.
Ah if there were only a way to run it visible in Multiscan (it 'runs'
allright, but I get to see only half of what's going on…)
What Amiga do you have? If you are running less than the Amiga 1200 or 4000,
Multiscan Prod mode can do no greater than 4 colors in hi-res. The screen for
the scanner software is 16-color. Since you have mode promotion turned on, the
system
is forcing a screenmode that has the available color depth to open the
requested screen. It is probably forcing Multican lo-res. If this is the case,
the only workarounds would be to get a graphics card that can doo the res. &
depth or turn off mode promotion and let the screen open in NTSC:High-res
Laced.

Well let me resume what I wrote before :
I have a 4000/30 with MMU and a 1942 monitor.
My workbench runs in Multiscan Prod 8 colors.
All I can do is run Scanlab100 in a forced NTSC High res screen, though I
wish Multiscan would be possible.

Do you have ADPro 2.5.0? If so, you could then use the loader module for your
scanner and ADPro 2.5.0 will allow you to choose the screen mode of visual
screens (like the scanner interface and such.)

No, I don't have AdPro, but my dealer has, so I went to his place. The
scansoft just opens on the same screen, and when we exit it AdPro hangs.
(Yes 2.5.0 !) So I'm even further away from a solution.
Ah well, it works I'll have to live with it.
Thanx anyway.

How recent is your scanner software? Did you get an 'Older Version' warning
when you ran the scanner loader with ADPro 2.5?
The only way to get the stand-alone scanner software wo run on its own to
screen is to use a good screen promotion utility. It also sounds like you are
running an older version of the scanner software and might need an upgrade.
