#Soft kick with G-force
3 messages in this thread
I used a Kickstart with my A2630 and the program rekick to instal the
kickstart. Rekick does not work with the G-Force 040 (for A2000). Is the an
other program out which work with the G-Force?
First, make sure you are NOT using the GVPCPUCTRL program to remap
Kickstart in the first place. Secondly, you will need to add some
Autoconfig memory for remapping. ALL of the REKICK programs that I'm
aware of remap to the Autoconfig range. Since the GVP 68040 board
maps ALL memory to the Extended range, this would cause a problem.
This was done for 16MB SIMM compatibility and there is no way to map
any of the memory to the Autoconfig range. A simple 1MB Ram board
will work fine.
Also, make sure that your REKICK program is 68040 compatible. The MMU
on the 68040 is probably treated differently and may require an
update in the REKICK program for 68040 compatibility.
Andreas,
I used Set040 for this. It's a bit difficult to set up but I still
have the Startup-Sequence that worked… mail if interested.
Two things to note however:
– you must have some zorroII Fast-RAM available (pick up any old
zorroII mem expansion, like a CBM A2058 or even an old GVP one…
– you must have a legal kickstart. I tested Set040 with an image of my
own kickstart (using GrabKick) to compare Set040 to gvpcpuctrl…
gvpcpuctrl won because it doesn't use my MMU.
