Does anyone know if there is a product I could buy or get access to, that shows the look of all the "materials" that come with 3DS? The reference book's colorplates only shows a few of the materials, if that. 1. Our dealer did not know. 2. Called Autodesk and got three different voice mails. No answer. What is the quick way of choosing materials without going into the materials editor and rendering each one????? Liz

Liz, Quite a few paint packages have a library or "photo-album" thumbnail capability to quickly view any number of tga's, gif's, tif's, etc.. One is called Leadview 3.0. Dave@Sony

A german company sells a book that shows you all of the WCT materials of 3DSR3. The book shows the resolution of the image and wether it`s tileable or not. I have this book and I have Texture Universe. But the most time I use this book. If you`re interested call ND Vision Buergerstr. 20 40219 Duesseldorf Germany Phone: +49 +211 397545 Fax: +49 +211 397279 Michael – Michael Bassier, Written 21-Aug-1994 @ 19:13:21 Using: Windows NavCIS PRO 1.2

The book is in german and english (but it hasn`t much text <g>). We`ve already sent RayMan to the beta tester (today <g>) via air mail. You should have it in your mail in the next few days. Michael – Michael Bassier, Written 24-Aug-1994 @ 09:13:38 Using: Windows NavCIS PRO 1.2

Zac, We just got a mailer for another WCT book. This one is a complete collection of images of all the wireframe models on the disks that came with R2 and R3, though it doesn't say anything about maps; it sounds like a different book. The source for this book is listed as 3D Vision Computer Graphics in Houston, TX. 713-972-1902. Their price is $49.95 plus $4.95 shipping. It's called "The World of Wireframe". Email me your fax no., and I'll get a copy of the mailer off to you, if you're interested. BTW; you asked about the S.F. 3DS Users Group. The next meeting is Sat. Sept. 10, 10 a.m., at 425 Market St., S.F., second floor. We'll be looking at the some of the new IPAS routines. John

John I got a call from someone in SF yesterday looking for a contact number. If I can have him call you or someone else, post the # or e-mail it to me and I'll pass it along. I'll give him this meeting date as well. Thanks much, and good luck with the meeting. TedB !^NavFont01F0007MGHHGD4C97C

Ted, The next S.F. 3DS Users Group meeting is Sat. Sept 10, 10am, at 425 Market St., S.F., 2nd floor. People can call me at 415-459-1050 if they need more info. BTW, official mailings are only going out to registered 3DS users in Marin and San Francisco, plus individuals that express a specific interest. They are not going out to East Bay or South Bay users at this time, as we want to avoid getting too large a group; we just don't have the space or resources for several hundred users like the last group. We can deal with the users here on the forum that want to show up; we just can't cover everyone in the whole bay area. Those that read the messages here are welcome to show up, regardless of their location. John

John Thanks for the info. I'll pass it on! Geez, I'm going to be in the Bay Area on Sat. but I think I'll be tied up all day. How long to the meetings run? TedB !^NavFont01F0007MGHHG7EFAC0

Hey Ted, just thought you might find this interesting… you've been refered to as "some NAAUG Multimedia bigwig" on Fidonet… <g> Can we post out messages to TED "bigwig" BOARDMAN now? After all, you do capitalize your name. <g> Just thought I'd throw in some weekend humor… amazing how names spread around over various channels, and what people think others do and are. I've had several people tell others I work for Autodesk, invented the light bulb, and other strange myths. -dave

/* So that's what happened? his big_wig slid off the top of his head and stuck to his chin? <g,r,& d> */ Personally I think Ted "guru on the mountain" would be more appropriate, but it's we'rd never knowing where one's name is going to show up next. 🙂 -dave

Dave I always thought fidonet was what the dog catcher used in those old cartoons! I'm not sure that "big-wig" is a good term to use. Maybe I could pick up a little rug to cover that bald spot in the back, then I'd qualify<BG>. I guess I must have been "shouting" my name the day I signed up for CIS, the first few weeks with ATO were tough.<g> Talk to you later. tedb !^NavFont01F0006MGHHHoFA40

/* I must have been "shouting" my name the day I signed up for CIS, the first few weeks with ATO were tough.<g> Talk to you later. */ You can always change it to Ted Boardman instead of TED BOARDMAN using the OPTIONS CI$ command… <g>.

John; I would be very interested in what ever you fax me (I'm an info freak <g>) on the book of meshes. Also thanks for the info on the SF user group meeting, I'll be there, and hopefully we'll meet. Thanks again. Zac (AZ-TECH) Berkeley Phone: 510/644-3533 Fax: 510/644-3532
