#Summa digitizer!?

I'm trying to use a SummaSketch FX board with the internal SUMMA driver
inside 3DStudio, inder Program Configuration. This works almoust! If I move
the pointer arround on the screen it stops moving for a 1/2 a second and
then moves again. This happens every 5-7 sekonds. Sometimes this makes the
summa from stop funktioning until I power down and up the digitizer then it
works again.
Does anyone have any idee?

If at all possible you should use mouse emulation under 3DS. SUMMA mode works
far better under R3 than it did under R2, but it is far from perfect. I use
MOUSE mode here rather than SUMMA and it works very well. I only go to SUMMA
mode if I have a shape or path to digitize into the shaper.
Question: If you are using the 4-button cursor, did you also find that your
"right-click" was on the left-hand (white) button? (That was the main reason I
switched to mouse mode.)
I will try using MOUSE mode instead!! Have you seen any DGPADI for 3DS to the
SummaSketch FX?

DGPADI isn't much better. If you'd like to try one, Summa has a BBS where you
can download their ADI drivers. They were designed for ACAD, so they aren't
perfect in 3DS. There was a problem with the 4.2 ADI – some DGTERM/IRQ thingy.
It was covered on the forum a while ago. The best solution was to download the
4.1 ADI driver from their BBS. (It works with the SummaSketch II/III, but I
don't know about the FX.) I think it is called 011.ZIP on the BBS. You will
have to call their voice number (1-800-SAY-SUMMA) to get the BBS number.
Keep in mind that if you use an ADI driver, you can't set the active area in
the Config dialog box. That configuration is only for the internal Summa
driver (regardless of what the documentation says.)

I think I will stick to the mouse driver! Less problem.
