#Toshiba Laptop display

Chuck,
Any suggestions on which display driver can be use to drive a Toshiba Laptop
with an active matrix display? I can load a Vesa Driver but would prefer not
to. I suspect the display is some common chipset that Vibrant supports
directly. Have you folks worked with any of these units yet?

See if the Toshiba might be using the Western Digital, (Paradise), chipset. I
recently configured one, and that is what this particular machine used. 'Might
be different on yours, of course.

Great! BTW; speaking of portables, you'd get a kick out of the new machine we
just put together for taking our multimedia on the road. It's one of those
lunchbox portables with an 8.5" Trinitron, (up to 1024×768), in the box. We put
a P90 m.b. w/32megs ram in it, along with a #9 GXE 64Pro video card, a 1.7gig
H.D., a CD ROM, and a RealMagic MPEG card with sound incl. What a little
screamer!

No kidding, some serious power there – but you do need a little more memory,
32mb? Most of the new mother boards can go 250mb.<g>

Yea, we know. But it'll only hold 128 megs, and it's only for road shows, not
the real production of stuff, so it'll have to do for now…

Well, we got the case, w/power supply and monitor included, from "B.S.I.", a
supplier listed in Computer Shopper, then put an Intel "Plato" motherboard and
the rest in ourselves; first real use I've seen for a shoehorn in a long time.

page.

Hmm.. Do you have any idea what chipset is on that one?

Found it, the Paradise driver/chip set worked. Hey you could alias that in your
menu so fools like me don't have to guess.
It works fine and is MUCH better than using the Vesa driver.
