First let me tell you how much I enjoy your product. I have used DTS Jr. in the past and loved it. I decided to buy the Pro version a few days ago and haven't been disappointed. I was very impressed just playing with it. After actually sitting down and reading the manual, I was fascinated. I can't believe the depth of features this thing has. This is coming from someone who has literally tried every shareware PIM on C-serve as well as spent hundreds of dollars on the big name ones too. I haven't found anything to compare with this. I do find having most of the commands in nested menus a bit inconvenient and I am having one small problem. When I create a group (following the example in the book exactly), the drag and drop method does not deposit the name in the group box. After assembling my group with the add button and saving it, my member's records are mixed up. For example, I minimize my group, then my address book as per the manual. I restore the group and double click on a name to bring up its view info and it's for the wrong person. Double clicking on a name in my group brings up a view sheet from someone else on the same page of the address book but who is not a member of this, or any group. Can you help? I have version 4.0c with files dated 9/93. Thanks in advance. I have been monitoring your forum the last few days and have been most impressed. Not only your quick responses but the noticeable concern that your company shows for its customers. Again I'm impressed. Keep up the good work and thanks again. Jim Thanks, I'm glad your enjoying DeskTop Set. I am not aware of any problems with dragging and dropping names into groups. I have tested it here and it seems to work O.K. If this continues please send a DeskTop Set backup to me at Okna Corp. 12 Rt. 17 North, Suite 212, Paramus NJ 07652. I will be able to restore it here and check out the problem. Double clicking on a name in a group will bring up that persons view box. Please run file doctor and choose all 4 options to fix your database problem. Please keep in mind that packing your database will take approx. 2-3 seconds per record, if you have a lot of records you might want to run it at the end of the day. Marisa Harris, Okna Tech Support

Marisa, I also have kudos for most parts of DTS. But, I have had the same problems with groups as described here. I was told (DTS tech. support) this was a known problem and would be fixed in 4.2. Having to wait more than 6 months for a bug fix is not very satisfying. Barry Groner

Dear Barry: We do apologize for the delay in the release of this latest update. Hopefully the fact that the bug fixes will come along with a significant number of new features all FREE of charge will help dispell your disappointment. Sincerely, Tracy McKenna Okna Tech Support

Barry, The group problem Jim was referencing was not being able to drag and drop a name into a group. The "bug" you are refering to is known, it happens when you select a name from the group DTS points to page A1 instead of going to that persons record. This will be fixed, but we weren't able to duplicate the drag and drop problem he was having. Marisa

Marisa- I got confirmation from OKNA quite some time ago that Groups are not functioning in the current release. I cannot use them at all. I hope they are being fixed in the upcoming release. I would also second the motion to be able to drag and drop names into a group. -Stuart

Marisa, Thanks for your quick answer. I am afraid dragging and dropping doesn't work in groups. Also running all 4 options in file doctor has no effect. Given the similar problems had by other users who responded to this message, I won't bother to send a backup disk right now. If this is fixed in the upcoming update, I'll wait for that. Thanks for your help though. Jim Compuserve – 71722,732 August 30, 1994

Jim I would greatly appreciate it if you could drop me a backup of your files. As I explained to Barry, we were unable to duplicate the problem you were having with drag and drop. I tested it on three computers here and can't figure it out. Thanks. Marisa
