#Shadows Be Gone
3 messages in this thread
Hi Gary,
Some time ago I mentioned that I had a problem with shadows appearing and
dissapearing and you suggested that I change the "SHADOW BIAS ABSOLUTE" setting
and let you know what happened.
I did change the setting and I finally got around to re-rendering that
particularly large file and I've found that the shadow problem has been
eliminated.
Thanks for your help.

P.S. You're getting good at this 3DS stuff!
Hey Alec, PMJI on this one but I had the exact same problem a few weeks ago.
Although changing the Shadow Bias Absolute didn't help. I never did actually
figure it out. The animation was of a cow walking out onto a stage and then the
curtains opening. There was a spot on the cow casting shadows and maybe an omni
on the cow only. But, the scene was dark otherwise. Well, in 3 places my shadow
were gone from everything. They just turned off. Changing the SBA in 3ds.set
didn't fix it either. Hmmm, I know this did you absolutely no good but I just
thought of it. Maybe Gary will pop in and have a comment. Although with
Siggraph….
Take care.

Dave,
Hmmmmm. . . . I think there are two separate problems:
1. Shadows dissapearing
2. Shadows appearing where they're not supposed to be.
I guess the SBA only fixes #2.
Maybe we should just hang on until R5.
Hope to see you soon.
