#New NAVFlyer
8 messages in this thread
A faster NAVFlyer 2.2b is now available in the CDK section of the library. An
extensive online HELP is included also. See the NAVFLW.JPG for an example of a
screen shot of the program in action. Also see the NAVFLW.TXT file in the
library for the current state of NAVFlyer. This TXT file will be updated with
information about upgrades as they become available, so check it over time for
any changes.
NAVFlyer now supports 3DS, DXF and VRML files.
It is an interactive program to fly through these 3D model files. It requires
Win32s on Windows 3.1X versions. It also requires WinG.
NAVFlyer and these support files are availbble at the following sites, as well
as from Microsoft, for free:
CompuServe CDK section of AMMEDIA
FTP from: yoda.fdt.net/pub/users/m/micgreen will change soon..
New Web site coming (our domain adress came through today finally, yeaaah!)
www.microngreen.com
This version of NAVFlyer now includes Level of Detail control to help fly more
complex models faster. It also includes adaptive viewing modes that also speed
up motion on complex models.
Those unfamiliar with VRML files can check it out by searching on VRML on
Internet or visiting our new Web site soon, for a link directly to most of
them…
————————–IMPORTANT!!———————
Start out by hittting the ToolBar button with the "A" on it to see the adaptive
display mode options. Change out of wireframe flying mode to fly fully shaded.
Fly in and out with the '/' and '*' (asterisk) on the KEYPAD. Read the HELP
file to learn how to fly in 6 degrees of freedom.
—————————————————————–
Anyone with registered versions of NAVFlyer will be upgraded at no charge to
the current 2.2 version.
Happy flying….

I'm interested in your product and I have a couple of questions. What is WinG
and where do I get it? Is this NAVFlyer 2.2b a demo version, a fully
functional product, shareware? I'll check out the .txt file but I thought my
questions might be of general interest.

Hi Robert,

File Info for WIN_G.ZIP

Title: WIN_G graphics library for Windows, for NAVFlyer
Keys: WING CDK NAVIGATOR NAVFLYER WINDOWS
WinG.zip contains the WinG graphics library from Microsoft, which is
necessary to use NAVFlyer for Windows and all other CDK Rel 2 demos and
applications. Simply unzip it and run Setup and follow instructions. (Be sure
to backup your .ini file first, in case of problems!) The first time you use it
(only) , you will see it run thru some graphics diagnostics first. Then its
done
and installed correctly.

Thanks for the tip!

Hi!
<<<< What is WinG and where do I get it? Is this NAVFlyer 2.2b a demo version,

Jonas covered WinG, our ever present guide in cybercompuspace…thanks 🙂
As for the other questions..
NAVFlyer 2.2b is a fully functional product that is freely distributable to
anyone. The only limitation is that it only uses the keypad to fly in 6 degrees
of freedom (see the HELP section on flying). It is upgradeable to the mouse or
other more elaborate motion control devices at different prices, depending on
what devices are desired (see the upgrade information in the HELP section).
Information is also included about some more complex software available beyond
just flying also.
I hope you have a good flight… don't forget to hit the "A" button on the
ToolBar to get the other adaptive display modes for flying.
Let us hear from you….

Thanks for the information, I dl'ed the files and I hope I can give it a try
soon. Do you recommend any particular "more elaborate motion control device"?

Yes, We really like the SpaceController from Spactec…. check it out.
It is a 6D ball on a desktop pedestal that takes a week to get the hang of but
once you get it , life is drastically different…. My son (9 yrs) is the
second best flyer I've ever seen, second to Spacetec's chief engineer. 🙂

Angela,
I've been trying to get in touch with you.
Our August 14th, 15th and 16th Seminars is upon us and we never received the
windows version on the NAVFlyer plus I wanted to talk to you about doinging
something for a show and tell on your stuff….too late now unless you've got
something in mind?
I'm leaving tommorrow AM at 11 O:clock to load up the Trucks and we are going
to be setting up the rest of the day friday. However we will be able to load
some software early Monday Morning before the show starts.
Let me know what you think…send me E-Mail or whatever…
