Automatic reflection mapping: I have gone back and ran the tutorials regarding auto reflect and flat -mirror trying to get a handle on a problem. I create/object/get shape a group of squares that became windows. 1. I tried to set a flat mirror to the object….no reflections 2. I create/face/detach each set of faces that make up a window and set each to a flat mirror….get reflections 3. I create/object/attach all the individual windows back to one entity….no reflections. so…. does flat mirror only work on object make up of 4 vertices? my testing seems to say yes. the tutorial only demostrates on a surface made up of 4 vertices Thanks for the knowledge Todd

Todd, if you apply your material to co-planar faces, and on the face level, the reflection should work. -Alan

I had built them all in elevation form. applied the reflection, and then rotated the sides into place. do the faces have to remain coplaner or only while they mapping is applied Reflections work if each glass piece is it's own object after the rotation. Thanks again Todd

Todd, please note that mapping coordinates are not needed for Reflection Mapping. Yes, the faces need to remain co-planar for the Auto Flat RefMap to work as a *single* material. If you want to apply a Auto Flat RefMap to more than one non-coplanar faces, make seperately named materials and apply to each set of coplanar faces at the Face level. This should work for you. -Alan
