Ok, I am going to be a nag nag nag <g>.
For those of us who are both too cheap and of the opinion that we can get
along just fine without a full blown word processor, could the text files in
3DSMAX.ZIP also be provided in .WRI format?
I have noticed that MegaSoft is also doing the .DOC thing. Is this (and you)
part of the MS plot to take over the universe as we don't know it? <g>

Yes, this is part of the plot. But now that you've figured it out, we'll have
to change our strategy. I've always favoured .WRI format for postings
regarding products that run on Windows.

Vote number two for something else in addition to .DOC. I vote for good old
ASCII text files that can be converted by ANY word processing package. I have
to bounce non-Autodesk uploaded files back to the author and ask them to
convert to ASCII as I am probably the only Sysop on CIS that doesn't own Word.

Just download the MS viewer 6.0 for windows. Its available
in the MS Knowledge base on the internet. And might even be
here somewhere. 🙂 this way you will not ever have to
worry about the awful DOC.

Someone posted there is a Word .doc viewer in one the MS libs. MS gives it away
for free.

Yes there is indeed a free .doc viewer and I even had it on my system for a
while. BUT (as I recall)
1) it is HUGE by my standards of disk usage
(especially when considering it display-only function)
2) it will NOT print
3) it will NOT save in .WRI or any other format
So, I decided it was not worth the price, i.e. disk space

I feel the same way. Why would I want to load a program as large as Word to
look at a text file. I don't mind .WRI files Write isn't the resource hog that
Word is. I won't buy word anyway. I find that AmiPro works fine for my needs.
But I still don't want to load doc's into Ami and convert them just to read
some info. I think that everyone wants to use cool formatting and fonts in
their documentation. For me some things should still follow the KISS rule.
