#LenzFX

I have LenzFX….is it possible to render on a machine with LenzFX settings
without the Hardware lock? even if the settings are already saved on a machine
with the HW lock and just moved to a machine to render?
When is Inferno gonna be released…how much is the upgrade?
I was told by digimation that the inferno would be released Sept 15th.

PMJI: what the hell is INFERNO?
I know LenzFX and Lumina but don`t know nothing about INFERNO.
Michael
Inferno is the upgrade to LenzfX, which will do all that LenzFx does plus it
will do explosions plus a few other goodies that Digimation won't tell me yet.
Sorry about the confusion.

Ah, I see. Thank you very much for the information. Do you know how much the
upgrade price will be and when it will be available?
Michael
It will come out Sept 16th, but as to the price, I don't know. I bought my copy
recently and they are sending me a free upgrade. See ya…

Erick,
yes you can render a LenzFX scene without a hardware lock. Just set up
your animation in VP and send it to your NETQUE. You can then take the lock
off and put your machine into slave mode.

no lens fx does not work with field rendering, so don'y bother
david,
I am aware of the absence of field rendering in LenzFX, but not all animations
go out to tape. I have talked with Digimation and the field rendering fix is
almost finished. Even without field rendering LenzFX is still a must have
Plugin.
Roy…

I talked to two of the Digimation people at SIGGRAPH. One told me what you
heard while the other told me that it wasn't gonna be possible _ever_ because
of some sort of incompatibility w/ the internal workings of 3DS. I wonder what
the _real_ truth is?

Maybe Digimation can jump in on this and solve the mystery.

Let's hope so they may be waiting for Inferno to come out first tho.

One fact that should be taken into account is that Yost IPAS disk 1 is a
collection of lens flare, glow and blur routines that all work *perfectly* with
fields, not to mention networks, etc… The frame/field information is there
for the IPAS programmer if he/she wants to take advantage of it.

Wonderfully put Jim! I'm putting a check mark in your collumn.
Say, has anyone had any luck using the Alpha buttons with Aura in LensFX? I've
never tried them until recently and I can't seem to get _any_ results
whatsoever.
For example, create a simple sphere and try to place an aura around it by
referencing the Alpha channel. I tried every combination of buttions
(involving alpha) and none produced an arua around the sphere. Am I missing
something?

Thanks, Lee. But, lest I come off as too hard on LenZFX, I must point out that
I own and use LenzFX. I think it's a terrific IPAS, and worth the price. I
always keep my effected scenes simple, render with alpha and recomposite and I
have not had any problems at all. It produces some dynamite cinematic effects
unavailable any other way. If my flare is moving across the screen quickly, I
render 2X the frames and fieldify it myself, and that gets me around any stroby
problems with frame only rendering.
Reading back, I think I perhaps sound too negative about a first generation
IPAS that is extremely good. I don't want to always focus on the flaws…
Jim
Excellent point! Maybe once they fix LenZFX they could use the acquired
knowledge to fix another Digimation IPAS – Magic.
