#Cool, cool water
3 messages in this thread
Greetings from a very tired anthropology student.
Does anyone know of a good IPAS routine that does running water? I don't mean
rain, or water in a bathtub or sink, but river water. Good old brown-looking
river water with controllable waveforms and motion?
I've got a pretty big project coming up and I am not going to use WAVES or
RIPPLE to do this thing. I know something is availble, so please help me out.
Thanks!

Hi Bradley,
I made a fountain with running water. I made some bitmaps with concentric black
and white waves in CorelPaint using distortion filter on circles. In the
material editor I made 5 watermaterials using the bitmaps as bumpmaps with
automatic mirror turned on changing the bitmap offset of the mapping
coordinates. In 3Dmodeller I made a flat waterobject and I copied it 5 times
and assigned every object its own material. Hided the copied objects. By using
morph with (matarial option on) in the Keyframer the first 5 frames and the
repeat option in the keyinfo dialogue I made the water in the fountain move.
In this way the geometry of the waterobject can stay very simpel. You have to
make a morph every frame otherwise you get unwanted and unrealistic flues.
Hope it helps you,
Hans
Thanks.
