Does anyone know where I can find a CG version (TGA, TIF, etc.) of SMPTE color
bars? I want to put it on a PAR/PVR and use it to record bars at the beginning
of a tape.

Check your PAR install disks, there should be a directory full of color bars
(including SMPTE) included if they are not already installed on your HD.
There are also some color bars (and a project file to produce color bars)
here in the libraries. Keyword search should find them.
