DX4 vs Pentium

I did a comparison of a DX4-100 Intel chip to a Pentium 100. The Pentium
averaged between 2 to 3 times faster on a number of varied and random images.
At the time, I chose not to go with the Pentium because I wanted to be able to
use the maximum RAM on it (eventually) without having to sell or dispose of
SIMMS. This meant I needed 64 Megs of RAM to start. This is because they need
SIMMS in pairs. I couldn't afford that, so I passed on the Pentium at that
time. Eventually I will get one however.

These were from a random group of animations I had. Some were supplied with
3DS, but I cannot be sure I hadn't modified them in some way. So I will not
post what they were.

You may not want to hear this, but we recently upgraded from 486/66 machines
with 4MB-36pin simms to P100 mobos that take 72pin simms. We were able to us
our existing ram by stacking it onto simm-towers. This gave us 2 16MB-72pin
simm-towers that could be mixed with normal 16MB-72pin simms. We used
simm-towers from SimmSaver Tech. 316.264.2244. They have worked great to
extend our memory investment.
