I heard a rumour last week that DEC and Microsoft had come to some sort of
agreement where all DEC platforms would be bundled with WinNT, or
something to that effect.
At least it's a more plausible rumour to spread around…..}:^)
(Maybe it was the genesis of the 'buyout' rumour?)

That sounds a lot more plausible. Someone here said they heard something
about Microsoft doing a $12-million research deal with DEC.
Could indeed be a deal where DEC's Alpha machines come pre-installed with
WinNT (if they don't already) or something like that.

I heard the MS/DEC deal involved s/w from DEC that allows Alphas to run as
WinNT Servers to Intel networks. Could still be the beginning of a buyout:^)
