You can use the mouse with Liberation (Captive II) as well on the CD32.
Dodger
Derrick (Dodger),
Do you have Liberation? How do you rate it? I heard that Liberation uses
the entire static RAM of the CD 32. Is that true?
Is Liberation a multilanguage game (german?) as Diggers is?
Juergen
Juer????. How ever you spell it. <g>
1) I rate the game Highly. It is my fav game. But it is a bit dodgy I have had
mine do wierd things to me. The intro is fantasic, speech all of the way
through it. The game its self is HARD, DAMN HARD. I am a RPG fan but this game
goes beyond any RPG I have played. It took me a while to acutally get a some
where. I have completed 21% of the first mission. and my mate says there is
4000!!!!!!!!!. it is going to take a while.
2) When you say STATIC RAM do you mean the memory inside the CD32. if you do
then NO it dont. Well it doesnt on my machine anyway.
3) I dont think you can do it in different languages. Cause my manual is all in
english. and it is a big manual.
Hope that helps….Dodger. (With a collection of 13 CD32 games)
Dodger,
the spelling (pronunciation ?) is not different, if you are German.
<g> The second letter (again these overloaded words?!) of my name is
a german "Umlaut" (ue is an alternative writing, if the system does
not provide international characters). Juergen is spelled: J – as
the start of university, ue – sounds something like the u in turkey,
but not exactly. Tomorrow I will get a dictionary german/english
from my colleague (he is American (!)) so I can tell you the correct
pronunciation. The rest should be no problem.
OK, back to the subject.
1) I will look at Liberation as soon as I can. I was a little bit
concerned because the german mag "Amiga Joker" rates it 64 %.
They say the handling is too complicated.
2) I mean the save game memory. Again, the mag "Amiga Joker" states that
the game uses the entire save game memory. So, if you saved previously
something else into this memory (for example Pinball Fantasies) it will be
overwritten by Liberations save game. Is this true?
13 games?! Which do you have? I only have Oscar/Diggers, Pinball
Fantasies, Overkill/Lunar C, Demo 2.
If you get more information about the CD 32 expansion, I am interested
too!
Juergen
Hi Juergen.
Thanks for the language lesson. <g>
1) USE A MOUSE. When you read the manual. it explains it as if you were using
the pad. and belive me it is bloody HARD!!!. but later on it explains how to
use a mouse. But if you use a mouse it is like any other RPG.
2) UTTER CRAP!!!!!!!!!. No it doesnt. I had Pinball scores in my mem.and then
did a save on Liberation (cause I was playing it). Went back in to the memory
thing and my Pinball scores are still there. But my Liberation save got knocked
off by my Labyrinth Of Time save game. So I have to start Liberation
again…..Ohh Well.
15 games acutally. Let me see if I can list them.
Oscar + Diggers (Came with it.)
Sensible Soccer
Deep Core
Liberation
Morph
Trolls
Pinball Fantasies
Overkill + Lunar C
Whales Voyage
Dangerous Streets
Zool
Labyrinth Of Time
Psycho Killer (Old CDTV title.)
I am in the process of finding out about the expansion port of the back of the
machine. I got a few company names but havent got to any mags to look it up. If
I find out I will post you about it.
Catch Ya!!!. Dodger
Hello Dodger,
Now I present you language lesson two: <g>
A part of the german dictionary:
[y] almost like the French "u" as in "sur".
It may be acquired by saying [i] (as in "meet") through fairly closely
rounded lips: e. g. Gl ue ck [glyck] = luck.
Easy, isn't it?
Had you locked the Liberation save before it was knocked out by the
Labyrith of Time save game?
How many "Speichereinheiten" (= memory units) does Liberation use out of
the 100 available?
Besides, how much does one game cost in the UK?
May I ask where do you come from?
Juergen
PS: I read your other messages. You can buy a keyboard for the CD 32 in
Germany. I saw it in a computer shop (GTI Computer). It is black, I think
it's a modified CDTV keyboard, and it costs DM 159.- That's around # 60.-
At the present exchange rate 159DM = (about $91.69 US dollars.

Hi Dude.
Thanks for the Language lesson. I really understood it…….NOT!!!!
Anyway. No I didnt lock the liberation save game that is why I lost it. Not to
worry though I am really into Lab. Of time. So I am going to try and complete
it this weekend.
I can remember how many it took up sorry. I think it was 26 but dont take my
word for it.
Update on the list of my games I gave you the other day. Ignore Psycho Killer
(THIS GAME DOES NOT WORK ON CD32). I went through 2 different copies and both
of them crashed in the same place. I took it back and got Castles II instead.
Games over here cost aynthing form 14.99 UK Pounds to 32.99 UK Pounds. The
dearest game so far was Pinball Fantasies which is 32.99 UK.
I live in Bristol in the UK. Does that answer your question.
Catch Ya!…..Dodger
Hello Dodger,
I tried it. The problem is, that this sound normally is not available in
the english language as the "th" is not in the german language.
However, thank you for your info. The prices seem to be slightly more
expensive than in Germany. Lab. of Time (53 DM = 20 Pounds), Pinball
Fantasies (60 DM = 22.5 Pounds).
Juergen
Hi Juergen.
Does that mean that Lab. Of time cost 53DM over there?.
I got that Demo II CD on saturday…..Really CoooooooL. Some of it dont work
though, shame. How many modules!!!!!. Definelty worth the money.
Thats 16 CD's I got now!!!!.
Dodger
You can actually protect any score from being deleted by going to the
built-in menu and putting a protect symbol in from of your beloved saved
game… I have not seen any product that did some wild deletes yet (apart
from my own routines 😉

Fred,
Apart of your own routines?
Juergen
Well, I'm doing professional software for CD32 and I've written hidden
routines to look at what have been saved in Non-Volatile and delete it
whether it's been locked or not… Thus this is only available in French
Driving Schools 🙂 (and with the knowledge of the hidden code to access
it…)

I know that. I just lost my Liberation saved game when I did a save on Lab. Of
time. I didnt think about it at the time.
