#Intermittent Summasketch
8 messages in this thread
We have a Summa Sketch FX model# CEM1212 12×12 tablet that is giving us the
fits. There are two things that aren't right. When the system boots and
tablet.com from autoexec.bat is run, "tablet absent or not responding" is
displayed. If we fire up Animator Pro, the tablet works. If we go into Windows,
it doesn't work. The mouse driver for Windows is Summa Sketch MM Win Tab Driver
ver. 2.07. Is there a newer driver? Is there one that works?
We're also getting an error message in Windows that "this version of mouse
driver needs to be 8.20 or newer". Then another error message comes up and says
"File Error – can't find dgvsmm.dll". I don't have this file. It's not on the
install disks nor is it anywhere on the hard drive.
Does anybody have any advice? We sure would appreciate it.

yes! contact summagraphics! they should have this driver, even if it didn't
ship with their disks. they're pretty good about shipping drivers out to folks
too… i've had them send me out windows drivers before. quick turnaround too.
they may even have a BBS by now.<g>

Dave,
Thanks for your quick response. That is sage advice! We just got the tablet
about 2 mos. ago, so I figured that the drivers were fairly recent. I didn't
think the drivers could be that far out of date. But I shall call them in the
morning and find out.

let us know. 🙂

I take it you haven't asked them for a Windows NT driver yet…

Yes they do.

Forget about tablet.com, we use smouse.com for years and had much fun with it
(even with lots of emulations: Kontron in summa-mode etc.). There's a nice
driver for windows out there too….
Michael
Michael,
Thanks for your reply. What is Kontron? I've never heard of it. I determined
that I had a bad serial port, which has now been replaced. Everything seems
fine in DOS, but I still can't get the tablet to work as a mouse in Windows.
Does the software you mention deal with this issue? Tell me more!
