What exactly *is* the EGS system?
David,
I only made the file public – didn't write it or use it, and didn't write the
description. I'm sorry I cannot answer your question, but I never try to bluff
with answers to things I simply don't know.

Betty,
EGS is an "extended graphics system" for the Amiga. It is basicly an
alternate windowing system. It usually is used in conjunction with graphics
boards but can be run on the ECS or AGA chip set. It does have some nice
built-in features like tear off menus. It also has a Workbench emulation so
with a graphics board you can have 256 colors on your 2000 or 3000. There are
at least two GREAT programs written to take advantage of the EGS system. The
first is a program called EGSTV. If you have a vlab digitizer and a graphics
board, you will throw the orginal software away. It truly is a great
interface. The other program is called EGSphotoalbum. Thumbnail snap shots of
your artwork in 24 bit color. It also is a very good peice of work. Both are
shareware and can be found in the Amiga Art forum. They aren't mine but I own
and use them both. There is a German program from DTM for animation in the EGS
system that are very good if you can read German. It is called PICaccess.
Hope that explains it somewhat.

Thanks. I think I once knew that – but I don't use graphics stuff much, so it
didn't stick very well.

it's a shared library system for rtg graphics…supported by many 24bit graphic
cards on the amiga like the picasso2,piccolo,spectrum,merlin,etc…
