#DOS emulation problem
7 messages in this thread
I'm seeking help for a young friend who has an Amiga [ I am a PC user ]
His problem is that he recently installed some emulation gear to enable him to
run DOS and MAC programs. But while his DOS programs run OK, he has not been
able to install Windows. He gets messages such as " specified path or file name
not found in reg. info editor …..".
Before posting this message, I asked him for details of his equipment, and this
is what he told me:
My computer is a Commodore Amiga 4000/030, 2mb chip ram, 8mb fast ram,
120mb + 540mb seagate harddisk running workbench 3.0.
The emulation hardware is called an EMPLANT board. The software it is
running is e586dx 2.0 —> for the pc – there is mac software as well but
there are no problems with that 🙂
Can any Amiga user provide enlightenment please?

Maurice,
You would probably get a wider audience of our knowledgeable people if you
posted this message on AmigaUser forum, the Emulations section. I cannot just
move messages between forums, so it was not possible for me to move it there
for you.
Your friend has a nice system, and this should not be hard to work out. We
have some real experts who hang out here – but I'm not one of them, I fear.

Betty: Many thanks for the signpost.

Besides Betty's suggestion, you should also check in the Utilities Unlimited
section of AmigaVendor. They make the Emplant.

I have an A4000 with the 040 processor, and have installed windows 3.1
For me it was no great problem to install it, but I have seen reports from
others who said it took hours to install on their systems.
In any case, on my system, which is as fast as they come, short of one of the
060 processors (and I don't think they work with Emplant), windows is slow
enough as to be non-functional. For example, I can get 3 cards ahead of the
screen updates in the solitaire game….
