#Rush to Amiga.
31 messages in this thread
Actually, Rush Limbaugh spends a good deal of time spinning yarns. Much of
what he says is out-and-out wrong. FAIR (Fairness and Accuracy In Reporting)
has skewered many a Limbaugh proclamation and exposed him for the sloppy
showman that he is. Watch out when he says, "..I'm not making this up, folks!"
If he can convince armies of ditto-heads to go out in search of Amigas, why
not? I would not want to see Escom funnel their advert dollars into his rather
large pockets, however.
Jeremy
Jeremy,
I lessen to the program everyday. I have heard Rush's talks on all of the
subjects. When he gives a report I look up the report. It is sad that you would
help promote the lies that were in the Fairness & Accuracy Farce. I have not
seen a group of people that have been so uninformed as the people who wrote
that junk. It might help if they had ever really lessened to the program.
Rush did a response where he went into detail about what he said and showed the
sources. You can find it here on CIS if you care to look. No one is right 100%
of the time but with Rush's track record of 98.9% you can trust in him.

Hi Jeremy,
>>FAIR (Fairness and Accuracy In Reporting) has skewered many a Limbaugh
>>proclamation
Out of curiousity, I downloaded that report and Rush's replies. You might find
it interesting.
When I was in Vietnam I learned that there ain't no "FAIR". I have learned to
take the media and all from and about it with a grain of salt!
It is naive to think that there are groups out there looking out for our
interests without taking care of theirs first.
BTW, I rarely watch Rush and have disagreed with him many times.

Jim,
I've read Limbaugh's responses to FAIR's barbs and I'm not impressed, but
neither do I take FAIR's often whiney preaching too seriously. However, when
Limbaugh's "truth" is anything but, someone should point it out. After all,
he's got one hell of a soap box and should be corrected when wrong.
I don't have any argument with Rush promoting the Amiga, but someone wanted to
know who he is and I responded.

And you did a wonderful job. <vbg> Hmmmn, don't I remember you from the

So, i gather that Rush is going to advertise the Amiga on his show? If thats
the case, then the Amiga's going to have a VERY good future. We should see
sales rival that of IBM and all the clones.(BG)

Not unless this is a new development.
He has been a mac guy, but uses and mentions Amiga on his show occasionally,(if
I've gotten the drift of the thread) Mostly, he seems anti Gate's stuff.
(Again, if I've gotten the drift)
>>the Amiga's going to have a VERY good future
That would be nice! Mine' already got a till death do us part contract. <g>

Jim,
actually, in my family, I have a "death do not part" contract. They've
commented that the machine is unusuable by _anyone_ else due to the extensive
customization, so it gets buried with me <g>.
Brian,

Tougher to me. Gonna be cremated! Have been on so many forums that now it's

If RL were so good at boosting computer sales, his continuing promotion of MAC
would have done that computer much more good than it appears to have done. It
appears folks believe RL on almost any subject except computers … 🙂 If RL
were so good at promoting computers, MAC would be the world leader by now.
Jeremy,
For a person who claims to have no argument with Rush you sure spend allot of
time arguing about his claims. This is not the actions of a person who has no
argument.
If you were to be completely truthful you would have say that you can find no
arguments with anything he says, but it looks like you are hopping that most
people don't lessen to him and will believe you.
Well I for one have heard him and I know that you are wrong.

I only said I have no argument if he wishes to boost the Amiga. RTF message,
dude!
Jeremy
What does RTF mean? I hope it's not something not suitable to the kids that
frequent this forum.

Guess if they can figure it out, the damaged is already done. I think that is
pretty much preschool level stuff now.

I was giving him a hard time because he wanted to make the 'discussion'
personal and the foul language is something to deteriate the subject matter
even further.

Here we go again….

The response to the FAIR analysis was very revealing of where RL really is
coming from. His non-stop assertion of near 100% accuracy is pure nonsense and
his FAIR reply was bizarre and whiney. That's why I'm cautious about his being
recruited to boost Amiga – those who know his INaccuracy level might be just
the kind of thinking people who'd be attracted to Amiga but turned off by its
being hyped by a known inaccurate spokesman like RL.
Jeremy, Jeremy, Jeremy….
In the ISSUES forum, there is a text file response to the FAIR report… and
some of it (the report) was a lie or misleading and others taken out of
context. I agree with Rush about 70-80 % of the time… and he makes the times
that I think he is right, entertaining.
In the end, we all have to think for ourselves… and I think Rush helps
people do that by getting more behind the scenes on many issues. Surprisingly,
when listened to regularly, most people regardless of political association
begin to like him and in time begin to 'see the light'.
From what I know of FAIR, they have a terrible record on accuracy.. contrary to
the name of the organization.

Jeremy,
I live near Woodstock, NY where Jeff Cohen , the founder of FAIR operates.
Unfortunately FAIR is anything but! Like many liberal media types he twists the
truth to suit himself much like other leftist groups do ( Handgun Control Inc.
being one that comes to mind. I to do not agree with everything that Rush says,
but he is more honest and up front than any media liberal I've seen or heard.
If you like FAIR then you probaly agree with Peter Jennings hatchet job on the
Atom bomb and his insult to all americans who served in WWII.
Paul
I agree with you completely. All you have to do is look at the FAIR management
and you will see a bias to the far left. I hav heard (not substantiated) that
some principles have socialist/communist ties.

-=>what he says is out-and-out wrong. FAIR (Fairness and Accuracy In

I'm not a 'diddo head' by any stretch/corruption/misinterpretation of the
label. In fact I haven't listened to Rush for quite some time since I now work
night shifts. However, I always found him entertaining. I often disagreed with
more than a couple of his viewpoints and more often agreed with many of his
views.
It's hillarious to me that you site FAIR's so called list of Rush's
innacurate statements. I actually read that list and FAIR should be completely
ashamed at trying to pawn that off to anyone!
The list was a complete joke, the only points of the list that were accurate
were points made about Rush's -OPPINIONS- not one single fact was shown to
wrong. The list imho only ruined FAIR's integrity…. that is giving them the
benefit of the doubt and assuming that there was ever a time they had
integrity.
In short, if that list was the best they could produce then Rush has much to
be proud of.
Cheers
I just plowed thru this string. The R-Man is always a topic that can provoke
everyone! 🙂 I generally enjoy him, though I sometimes dis- agree with his
opinion or his expression thereof. BUT, I can say fer shure that the way he is
mischaracterized, misquoted and misrepresent- ed by most journalists and
medianoids shows that they know less about what's going on than he does-by far!
To answer the re-occuring question: I think this string got started after Rush
was talking about his lack of excitment over Windoze '95. He mentioned how the
Mac had multi-tasking, long file names, etc. & probably mentioned the Amiga in
passing as another computer that had these things before PCs. He was getting
irate letters from stuck PC owners! He is a Mac partisan supreme, and I would
wonder how some would take his promoting of the Amiga! It would definately
sell, but in this country, the new models would at least have to run MAC, if
not windoze platforms to really catch on. 🙁
Rush can be ;heard daily throughout the world on WNOR shortwave.
(BTW the "FAIR" report, so I hear, got much of it's publicity from that other
becon of objectivity, Doonesbury, which, BTW, is actually funny this week as it
rags on Windows '95 too)
LS
I agree with your analisis of the FAIR report and on Rush. I guess i'll have to
take a look at Doonesbury and see about it.
