Hello,
Do you know of any way to view AGA pics on an IBM compatible (486 50MHz). I am
completely stumped on this one (assuming it's even possible).

Try saving them as 256 Colour IFF's and using something like Graphics
Workshop on the PC to convert them – although I hear Photon Paint can
save as GIF format so maybe thats worth a bash.
As a programmer theoretically it's possible, it's just a case of finding a
progrm that either recoginses 256 colour ilmb's on the pc or saving 256
colour gifs/jpegs on the amiga and then converting them to a pc disk…
Tell what you do in the end as I think I may have the same problem
cropping up soon…

Thanks for the reply, Robert. After I wrote the message, I found a nifty little
program in the Photography Forum libraries called CompuShow 2000, which enables
HAM8/IFF viewing on my PC. So far, it's the only program I've run into that has
such a complete range of file formats available, although Paint Shop Pro has an
IFF filter as well (haven't had as much luck with it, however).

Not far from the truth! I just got back from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and I'm
having a helluva time adjusting. All the same, I'd take England right now over
this mess. By the way, where in England are you exactly?

Sorry for taking so long to reply Mike, but university interviews have
eaten up SOO much time at the moment….
As for where I am from, (seems like everybody aska me this <g>) I live in
a little town called Thame (pron: TAME) and it's a little cesspit <g> Been
here for about 15 years now and am thoroughly fed up with the place 🙂
still could be worse i suppose…..

Our "WinImages:F/x" can read *any* standard Amiga IFF under Windows 3.1,
if that helps. It's also the most powerful 2-D special effects software
avilable for the Windows platform. :^)

Compushow? Ummm. don't ever know what that IS. Can you tell me a
little about what you're using it for? Methinks there may be some
miscommunication going on here.
I guess you've solved the problem, but HiJaak PRO for Windows, v2.0 (Inset
Systems) supports IFF format files. I honestly don't know how well it will
handle AGA stuff, tho…
Most programs such as Adobe PhotoShop and Hijaak typically do not handle every
variation of IFF, especially anything that's cropped up in the last three
years.
Yeah, I figured as much. To be honest, I was shocked to find IFF in my Hijaak
menu! (much less a sample IFF file!) They especially don't handle conversions
between PCX/BMP and IFF very well…(even when the PC file is less than 256
colors!)

Thanks for the note. I've been using CompuShow 2000 with no problem, but I'll
keep HiJaak PRO in mind. It's a screen capture/conversion program, correct?

Yeah, its for captures/conversions. Some folks have told me that it doesn't
handle all of IFF's flavors well, tho.
