Is there a Emulator I can download, to convert Amiga WB2.0 files stored on
Prowrite to a P.C. Any help would be appreciated!

You don't even need an emulator. Just get CrossDos and you can transfer
those files from your Amiga to a PC formatted disk. CrossDos allows you to
read and write PC files on the Amiga. If you upgrade to WB2.1 or better yet
3.1, CrossDos comes with it in Workbench.
Waiting for the MacroSystem's 060 accelerator to be released.

Thanks for the reply. I'm a little confused though, as I've
no longer got an Amiga, great machine that it was – How can I now without
possesing one, read and hopefully print files that were stored on floppies
using Prowrite (Which actually ran without having to run WB2.0 First) I
searched the library, and could not find either Cross Dos, or Messy Dos?
Do you think that if I could download either of these two, I could
still access my WP files from Prowrite? (Where can I find them if they would be
of help?)

Ian, if you no longer have access to an Amiga – you have a big problem!
The MSDOS machines cannot read Amiga diskettes. Without an Amiga, you have no
way to read your files. If you had an Amiga, it could read the files in
AmigaDOS and then write them out in MSDOS. Without an Amiga, the things we
mentioned – CrossDOS or MessyDOS – would do you no good. They run on Amigas.

Dear Betty, Thanks again for the reply. Is one of my original questions then
relevant… Can I use an Amiga emulator to read/print the files I need to see
again? Is there such a beast!?<G> (And where might I find one?)

There just isn't an Amiga emulator for MSDOS machines. ESCOM has said that
they might create a board that would make one – similar to the way the
Bridgeboard has worked in Amigas – but that is far down the road. Not even
started. Just a suggestion of things that might someday come to pass.
So – at the moment, no, there just isn't an Amiga emulator for any platform. I
wish we could be helpful, but it simply isn't available.

Unless you've got a friend with an Amiga (or a freindly Amiga dealer) you're
pretty much out of luck. PC can't read Amiga disks. Amigas with Crossdos
(came with the last two upgrades of the OS) can, however, read and write to PC
disks. So, what you need to do is find someone who can copy your files onto a
PC disk, preferably after saving your Prowrite files as straight ASCII text
since Prowrite's formatting won't be read by your PC version of WP. Sorry….

What Betty said is unfortunately true, Ian. If you're not willing to give
up your files, I suggest getting an Amiga 500 somewhere. You can buy one for
about $70 now, maybe cheaper up here. That's the best I can offer you.

What PC formats does Prowrite export to? If it can export to a PC format, you
can use MessyDOS (in the libraries) to write the exported files to a 720K disk,
and then load them into the PC.
Ian,
First, send the files out of ProWrite in ASCII format. Then, use CrossDOS if
you have it (it comes with 2.1 and later, must be purchased for 2.04 and
earlier) or MessyDOS from our libraries to set up your Amiga drive to write
MSDOS format disks. Then, simply save your files to the MSDOS disks and put
the disks in your clone. It's easy!
There are other ways, of course, but this is really the easiest I know.
