OK, now listen to this. I am a mad guy who will prove that it is possible to write commercial games without needing a bunch of actors or a CRAY computer. I am looking for graphic artists and C or Assembler coders. The aim is to realize a project of mine: a high quality game on A1200 only HardDisk installable. I know it seems impossible, but I'm sure it is not. Personally I am a musician and an ex-AMOSPro coder. I am now reading the ROM Kernals books at high speeds for C programming, so I could code the project myself. But it will take some months for me to master those damned librairies, and anyway two coders are better than two. As for the gfx… A five-years child could do better than me! So I urgently need one or two graphic artists. Then other projects could follow. But let's be clear: we won't do this for money. I mean, it's not a job. Don't believe you're gonna work for a company like Psygnosis or whatever. But of course, if we finish the game, and we manage to sell it or to put it on shareware, the earnings will be EQUALLY shared. So don't be afraid and answer me. You can also give your advice about the thing (Am I mad or not?).

Carlo I don't think you are mad. Why to you want it to only work on an A1200? I can understand the HD only, you can make a game alot more usable if it is running from a HD. If you write it following the guides in the RKM than it will run on an A4000 and even older machines with OS3.1 and some graphics cards. I would realy like to help out but I don't have an A1200. I have an A3000 and A GVP spectrum card with OS2.05 so I can not run AGA stuff. If I had 3.1 I have read that it is possible to run AGA stuff with my setup, if the software is written to the guidelines. I know some people who may be interested in doing some of the graphics. They don't have access to CS though, so I would have to be the middle man. Good luck with the project. Stew

Stewart, <I have an A3000 and A GVP spectrum card with OS2.05 so I can not run AGA stuff. If I had 3.1 I have read that it is possible to run AGA stuff with my setup, if the software is written to the guidelines.> Even with OS 3.1 you won't be able to run 90% of AGA programs or games. Both Brilliance and DPaint AGA were written to the chips so you can't use them in AGA modes without the chipset. The same is true of most AGA games. Asha Another day, another million colors

Stewart The reason I think I should make it only AGA is because of the graphic possibilities. It is sad to say, but making an A500 game today, even with a HD, is (sniff) obsolete. The fact is that with those crappy-bugged Pentium PC's you have 256-color games. The Amiga computers can deal with lots of bobs, high-quality musics, but only the AGA allows 256 colors. There's more: most of A1200 users have HD, because it's ALMOST necessary. Then Escom's going to include HD with every A1200. It is sad to see A500 computers becoming old and obsolete. About the A300: it's a great machine. It's just a pity it's limited to 32 colors or HAM… Anyway, thanks for answering. Anyway, if you find a way to draw with at least 256 colors (on a PC or with a graphic card), then contact me. Thank you.

Steward, Let's do something: why don't you try? Listen, I'm writing this lines one day before going to holydays, so I'm a bit out of time, but be sure I'll call you back in September and we'll discuss on how you can send me a sample of your work. I don't know if we can do this through CS or if we have to use another program. I'll ask to the SYSOP… See ya. Diego

I know some people who are good a graphics and I will see if they want to help out at all. I am will be away from the 6th of september until the 28th of september, so it may be some time before we speak again. Stew

This would mean people like me (when I upgrade to OS3.1) would be able to play the game. A down side to this is that you can (if you know what you are doing) make a game run faster if you hit the hardware, but if the hardware is ever changed (it is over due for an upgrade) it more than likely will not work on the new machines. Just look at how many good games for the A500 will not run on anything else. It can be very frustrating when you upgrade your machine I know. Stew

Stewart, About the fact of "hitting" the hardware: I'm a poor guy who started with MSX and ended with AMOSPro (try Bert In The Magic Kingdom: I did it ! ). Now, after tasting the "joys" of coding in Assembler (learning with an old Abacus book: only 1.3! No AGA!), I decided to try with C. So I bought ROM Kernals 2.0, managed to get some documentation on AGA, and here I am. Now the fact is that I don't think I would hack the system to get more speed. I'll first learn my "graphic primitives", and then we'll see. Anyway I'm sure I will dispose of enough speed to make the whole think running without hacking: I managed to make 50Hrz games on AMOS, so why not on C, which is faster? Of course, this could change if I find another coder who's better than me… Diego

Diego I have programed with C on the Amiga but only OS1.3 stuff. If you need some help getting started I MAY be able to help some. Stew

i ahve several tools from the internet to turn images and datatypesin to sprites,c source code, asembler, etc…and even make snes.genesis code files, and make raw images….gfxmaster, piccon, and some others

i can draw in 8bit color 16bit color,ham8color,vga color,svga 65000 color/24 bit color onmy pc/amiga 1200…..but i doubt you'd like my artwork… 2 of them are uploaded in rpgames forum/tavern library 13,da.jpg and softkey forum library 22,teen02.gif
