I am trying to take Lightwave animations and play them out my DCTV (I only have
a 2000 and a Toaster 2000).
I can't seem to use the REND 24 correctly. My oupuyt animation only has 1
frame in it.
Do you need a special animation player to play these amin files? Will my
DPAINT IV play the animations that REND 24 prints out.
I'm very confused.

well ithin kyou need to arexx the operation to convert the rgb to dctv then
later put all the frames to an anim filebrillaince and dpaint maybe able
to….and rend24 can supposedly do the same
Yeah, Rend 24 should do it, but I can't quite figure out how to use it
properly. The documentation is a bit over my (thick) head.

It sounds like your not setting Rend24 up correctly. Be sure your rendering you
lightwave frames as RGB, not Framestores. Determine the directory that you are
compiling them, then put the path name in Rend24's source window. Select DCTV
as your animation type, and input a destination path into that window. Leave
Rend24 running and got to Lightwave. Start rendering, being sure that your
output information is identical to the input info. you gave Rend24. From there
it should work automatically. What you'll get is a DVCTV anim file. Rend24 has
a player utility (it the same as Deluxe Paint's), but it won't play DCTV
animations. I'd recommend View, or, Viewtek. Both, and others, can be found in
the AmigaUser, or AmigaArts libraries.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will grab the files. I have a problem sometimes
downloading files from Compuserve, though. I know they are compressed, but it
always seems the compression format is different. I just downloaded a file or
two in "binary" format. I tried my LHA program to "inflate" it, but no luck.
How do you inflate a binary file?

Many DL's from Compuserve can't be decompressed using LHA. The extension (.arc,
.lha, .ext, etc.) tell you what compressed the file, and what platform it's
intended to be run on. Most of the decompressor are in the libraries. Many do
not have interfaces and must be run from the CLI. In most cases all you have to
do is click on the decompression program icon, and when the argument window
comes up, add the name of the file you want to decompress along with a
destination path.
