I am using Imagine 2.9 for DOS and have been wrestling with the Marble
texture for quite a while. I have 2 questions and 1 tip:
1) When using the AGATE texture, I get something that doesn't look
anything like a rock (at least in my opinion). I've tried adding
multiple textures but I just don't like the results. What I'm really
looking for is a texture that looks a lot like mable (which AGATE
cannot seem to accomplish because there are no "veins" that run
through the texture). Am I missing an important combination of
textures that may give me this effect, or are there other available
textures aside from the originals that came with Imagine that may
have such a texture? Also, is there a good place with a library of
different marble/rock type bitmaps?
A TIP ON THE AGATE TEXTURE: I have been using the AGATE texture (of
all things!) for nice looking CLOUDS. I attach the AGATE texture to
an object, then set all my colors to blue's, and "STRETCH" the
textures sizes. It gives a fairly nice effect.
2) I'm sure this questions been asked before, but are there any areas
where I can pick up some pre-made Imagine (for DOS) objects?
Sure, you can DL any of the Premade Imagine objects in Amigaarts Area
10, you could buy the Syndesis 3D ROm which contains 500 or so
Imagine objects. You can scour Amiga BBS's looking for Imagine
objects. Amiga Imagine Objects and IBM Imagine Objects are
interchangeable. just gotta watch out for the filename length on the
IBM's since we Amigan's don't have an 8 letter filename limit it can
cause problems for IBMer's using Amiga models with long names.
I just saw the ad in 3D Artist magazine about the 3D-ROM from
Syndesis. The objects are about the same I found on my Imagine CD
(the one I bought a few weeks ago). -David

I have the PC version of Imagine, too. You can download all the
Imagine object from the Amiga Art Forum (Lib 3D). You need LHA.EXE to
extract the archives. Take care about the file names. Some are
longer than DOS allows, so you have to extract file by file and
rename it. Otherwhise some will be overwritten. There are a lot of
interesting objects.
RE: textures. IMHO it's really a PITA to get the textures do what you
want. Haveing a requestor with 10 numbers for creating the look of a
texture isn't the best solution.
Has anyone created a good looking wood with the wood texture? Once you
have seen how easy it is to handle perfectly looking textures in
Typestry…. -David
INdeed you are becoming one of those things that you speak of.
It EASY to do, you just are not spending the time to get the
job done,. Dont blame on the software what you dont want to learn, I
can make great looking wood, but who know you probably would not like
that either.
Your constant negative attidtude is absurd. If you want to
know something and cant find it out, then just ask that is why I and
Rick are here. Not to read these silly little digs that you seem so
