I just signed up, please correct my use of this forum if necessary. I am looking for a method of animating trains in 3DS. I have used track copy and time delay to get one railcar to follow another but is tedious for 50 cars. There must be a better way, any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Jeff – Fine format on your first messages here. Welcome! Since I'm the administrative sysop here and not a master at 3DS, I'll leave the question for others on your train. I've seen similar requests here on animating so sure someone will be able to help. Anne

Jeff Copying tracks and sliding the keys forward in time is the only way I know of to animate a train, so you are on the right track<g>. Maybe it's possible to write a script to automate the process? Anybody familiar with Keyscripting care to comment? -Ted Boardman

>> Maybe it's possible to write a script to automate the process? << Jim Lammers wrote a script called TRAILS.K3D that copies tracks and offsets them in time automatically. It would probably work as-is, but if not, it wouldn't be hard to adjust. Check library 18. – Dave

Thanks Dave, I'll have a look at that myself. Thanks to Jim, as well! -Ted Boardman !^NavFont01F0007MGHHG39891F
