hi Chris. AStudio was not written for NT, but for Windows 3.1. however, we have
had reports of several people who have managed to get it running under NT 3.51
(latest patch) by changing the icon properties from FLASH.EXE to ANIMATOR.EXE.
no guarentee, but you're welcome to try it.
Autodesk is currently working on a version of AStudio which will run under NT
and Win95.

Hi Dave!
When do you expect Autodesk to release the NT version of AStudio?

when do i personally expect it to be released? 😉 "soon" <ggg> can't comment on
specific date, but here are some worthy signs/omens of note… Win95 is
shipping, and 3DS NT is right around corner… Adesk will no doubt wish to have
AAS on both heels.

This has not been announced. I have been reassured that the NT version will be
available around the same time as 3D Studio's NT version, which will be – I
guess – around the beginning of next year.
The original plan was to develop the WIN95 and NT compatible version at the
same time, but the programming and testing were not similar enough to bring the
WIN95 version to market in a timely manner. The decision was made to
concentrate resources on getting Win95 support first.
If you're a registered user of AAStudio, you'll be contacted when the NT
version comes out and asked if you're interested in the NT version. Unless
plans change, this will be free of charge.
Jay, I'm sorry for traversing old territory, however I missed your answer to
the anticipated ship date for an animator pro or animator studio version which
runs under NT. Also, do you know of any sources or secrets which will
temporarily allow animator pro to run under NT. I have just recently seen a PIF
fix for 3dStudio in the Planet Studio Mag.
Thanks for your help,
Kevin

Kevin, have you tried the same PIF? both apps are PharLap-based.

I have tried the same PIF for animator Pro, with no luck.

okay… beating brains on wall here… (what the heck could be different)…
have you tried launching AniPro from within 3DS (using 3DS PIF) as a 3D Editor
Pulldown option (configured for shellout through 3DS.SET)?

Kevin,
Autodesk is expecting to release an NT version of Animator Studio in early
1996.

I think you meant to say 3D Studio, not Animator Studio. The last I heard
nothing was being promised. (Before that, I did hear that we wanted to have
AAStudio on NT to be available around the same time as 3DS MAX, but nothing
official. Didn't want to raise hopes in case it's not in the official plans.)
