#Spectrum 28/24 and PgS

I've got a question about how PageStream 2.2 behaves on the display
produced by my GVP EGS Spectrum 28/24 card. I'm sending a similar message
to Soft-Logik tech support as well.
I've got a simple PageStream document — a sign I made for my wife which
just says "No Whining!" with an international "forbidden" symbol stamped
over the word "Whine". I made the symbol by superimposing a white circle
on top of a red one, placing the word "Whine" on top of them and then
superimposing a red stripe over the whole thing. I then grouped all these
objects.
When this object is displayed on the Workbench screen produced by my
Spectrum board, strange things happen when resolution exceeds 640×480. At
resolutions higher than standard VGA, the objects do not render properly
on the screen. The red stripe and red circle are rendered as a red square
whose diagonal measurement is equal to the length of the stripe (which
diagonally bisects the circles). At resolutions of 640×480 and lower,
everything looks fine. The documents prints properly, also.
I've also found that at higher than VGA resolutions the cursor indicators
in the rulers do not always show up.
Any suggestions for what to do here (other than use VGA or lower
resolution — I've already identified that as one alternative)? Thanks

I'm stumped at the moment. I use PageStream 2.2 regularly on 1280×1024 and
1280×800 Workbench screens regularly, and everything is working fine.
What machine, Kickstart, Workbench, accelerator, etc. are you using, and what
is the color depth of your Workbench? Likewise, what is the color depth you
are asking PageStream to use?
Perhaps the GVP Tech may have additional answer/questions for you, but the
above come to mind when thinking about the EGS side of things…

Thanks for the reply. Mark at Soft-Logik explained the problem — at
higher levels of magnification, the program represents objects such as I
described on the screen as rectangles. Once I reduced the magnification
level from 117% (the default, I think) to 97% or less, the page looked
just fine. Mark claims that one will get the same effect on any machine,
not just with EGS. I appreciate your interest.

It appears to be related to the size of the object and though I did not
try to print just now, I am pretty sure that it is only the screen
representation that is wrong (that is the print out will be correct for
what you have drawn and not what is displayed).
I doubt that it is a EGS problem as I first encountered this on a plain
ECS chip set.

Thanks for the reply. Mark at Soft-Logik confirms what you suspect — it
is not related to EGS at all. The screen representation will be as I
described for any machine at certain levels of magnification. Once I
reduced my magnification from the default of 117% to 97% or less, the page
rendered on the screen exactly as it was supposed to. As you and Mark
both said, the document did print correctly.
