I was told at siggraph I need to have ver.4 to upgrade to MAX. I only have ver. 3 and not much money; will there be a cheaper way to upgrade from 3 and how much is the upgrade to to MAX anyways? ——–Will

>I only have ver. 3 and not much money; will there be a cheaper way to upgrade from 3 and how much is the upgrade to to MAX anyways?< The post I saw said the R4 -> MAX upgrade is $495. The R3 -> MAX is $995. You can upgrade R3 -> R4 now for $295, then go R4 -> MAX for $495 and end up saving $200.

Tim, >> You can upgrade R3 -> R4 now for $295, then go R4 -> MAX for $495 and end up saving $200. << I think a local dealer here quoted $199 for an R3 to R4 upgrade. If that's the case that would be another $100. I was thinking the same thing as you. I thought it odd that Autodesk had that pricing structure, where a two step upgrade would be cheaper than one. Can you give the name and number of that dealer because all the ads I've seen list a $300 upgrade to ver.4. ————Will

Will, I tried to look them up in the book, and see they are no longer listed. I can't say that I'm surprised. I talked to them first, when shopping for my system. I can't say I came away with the feeling that they knew what they were doing. I didn't say that to imply that I knew a good place to get cheap upgrades. I was just curious why Autodesk would ask $995 for something that could be had for less, with a two step approach. Terry

I thought the $495 upgrade to MAX was a SIGGRAPH special. —————-Will
