Barry, your hack would be very useful to a lot of people. Might I
humbly ask that you put a file in the DLs containing explicit
instructions on how you did it? I.E. "Buy such and such a part from
Radio Shack and solder it between pins x and y in the gender bender,
etc." I assume this fix is equally valid for the 2000. Thanks. — Art

I`ll gladly do that. Do you know which DL it should go in? Now as for
wether it`ll work on the 2000, it should, but I won`t make any promises since
everything I read lead me to beleive that all the ports on the 500 and 1000
were t

The mod should work on the 2000 as well, as the ports are the same. DL 11 is
the appropriate place for it (hardware), and it will be appreciated.

I think I'm going to do a column on this in AC, warning everyone of the
problems you've run into, along with some possible solutions. Would you have
any objections to my using your name and PPN in the article? I've already done
this with two other AmigaForum members who game me permission, and as a result
of the exposure, they've become rich and famous (oops, sorry, that should read
"they became ticked and infamous" 8).

Sure, go ahead and use my name and ID if you like. It might be my only
chance at "immortailty".
In any case, I bought a back issue of AC and read your review of the
SoundScape sampler. What I didn`t notice suprised me. You never made mention of
the quality of the sound. (I shouldn`t say things like never, I only read the
article a few hours ago and might have missed something). To tell the truth, I
expected better quality. I don`t have the equipment to measure, but my guess is
that the signal to noise ratio is, what, about 35 db. It is really HISSY-and
I`ve recorded at Major Distortion levels. The sampler built into my Casio SK-1
is consideralbly quieter. Is this normal, or have I run into another 500/2000
difference?
I`ve built an extension cable so the sampler will plug into the 500s
second mouse port but its only a few inches long and I wou ldn`t expect a
short digital line to add noise. I wasn`t really expecting Fairlight quality
but it could sound a lot better. Oh, one last thing, the sample that came as a
demonst ration sounds consdierably better than what I have been able to do.
