Hi Greg, maybe you can help me. I have an avatex 1200 modem and ONLINE
terminal prgm. Problems is when I get the CONNECT promt from prgm, and I hit
carraige return I keep getting host name over and over again. It dosnt let me
get anything in. Maybe you have some ideas. I already ran out. My settings on
workbench are 7 read,7write,even, 300 baud,handshaking I've tried all, 1 bit.
on my avatex, the switch are factory set to down,up,down,up,down,
down,down,down. and on the ONLINE prgm the settings are same as Workbench. Any
ideas Greg?

The 'normal' response to the connect prompt is to hit ^C. If you hit return
you'll get "HOST NAME:" — that's fine too — type CIS.
Steve I know that, but this darn thing wont let me type anything in it
just keeps repeating host name continuously. I guess compuserve is recieving
something (even though I'm not sending anything) because after about three
request for host name it starts writing error after host name. this is really
wierd.

Bruno,
Check your "DUPLEX" and "ECHO". BOTH should be set to OFF. Sounds like
the "host" prompt is getting echoed back to the sender.
