#DBW Render
3 messages in this thread
I've been itching to dabble a bit into Ray Tracing, but one of the most
important requirements for me is the capability to stop the trace in the
middle and continue from where I left off at a later time. This feature is
hard to come by, but someone pointed out to me that DBW Render could do it
(although it would have to repeat 4 lines…). Well, I downloaded it from
DL9 here and it does indeed do that. But it also often crashes for unknown
reasons. Checking the version, I see it was 1.0, January 1987. Does
anyone know if Mr. Wecker has done any later versions? And if so, can he
still be contacted at the Colorado Springs address listed in the
documentation? –>Steve Bennett
Cmon' now Steve Turbo Silver should be fast enuff so you wouldn't need to
stop it in the middle! <grin>. Why have to stop a trace that will take 20
or 30 hours to complete when you could trace the entire picture in a
fraction of that time. <larger grin>.
I know, I know… Don't worry, I'll be getting Turbo Silver eventually…
I wanna get some more memory (and maybe a hard disk…) first. Until then,
DBW Render is acceptable… I still think you ought to put in the
capability to stop and continue later, though… How difficult can it be
to put in? –>Steve Bennett
