Does anyone know how to reprogram the ".font" files to understand that a new size has been added to the directory it is associated with? For instance, say I have a Times 48 point font that I want to add to the Times directory. If I just put it in there, none of the programs that use loadable fonts seem to be able to recognize it. I've noticed that the FED program automatically updates the ".font" file when it edits and saves fonts, but this doesn't help since I can't get IT to recognize I've got the new font size either. I've looked in the RKM in the "Text" chapter, and the ".font" file is pretty simple, but I hesitate to write a program (and debug it) just to do this simple little thing. I'm sure someone's had to face this before, and maybe it's something so simple that I just can't see it. <grin>

Check over in 'Arts, in the Fonts Lib. I believe you'll find something that may help there. [74145,657] FNTFIX.ARC/binary 31-Aug-88 18145 11 Keywords: FONTFIX FONTS FIXER When one or more of the font content files (the ones named only with numbers) is deleted, the font becomes unusable. This program repairs those fonts by creating a new font header file showing only the remaining fonts. Lib 14 Dunno if this will help directly, but perhaps contacting the author will get you the information you're looking for.

At your service, Ariel. There is a file in the Fonts library in AmigaArts that will do exactly what you want. The full name of the file is FONTFIXER, but it probably got shortened to FONTFI or something of the sort when I uploaded it. At any rate, it will read your file and build a new font.header file for you, using all of the sizes available in the directory. ' The fabled 1.3 will have a program to do this, but in the meantime, FONTFIXER should do the job. If you have trouble finding it, ask again and I'll look up the exact name. It was uploaded about the third week of August.
