John,
The dip switches don't control the Tone-Pulse dialing on the Avatex. Here's
what they are:
OFF(up) ON(Down)
1 8 bits 7 bits
2 RDL inactive RDL active
3 DL inactive DL active (Digital Loopback)
4 ST inactive ST active (Self Test)
5 AL inactive AL active (Analog Loopback)
6 DTR active DTR forced active (Data Terminal Ready)
7 CD active CD forced active (Carrier Detect
8 CTS active CTS forced active (Clear to Send)
Hope this helps you.
Betty
Hi Betty, on my AVATEX 1200hc the dip switches are as follows:
SWITCH FUNCTION UP DOWN 1 Data
terminal ready (DTR) | DTR line signal | DTR forced on 2 * Message format
| Display in words | Display in numbers 3 * Message display |Msgs
not displayed| Messages displayed 4 * Echo |Commands
displayed| Cammands not displ. 5 * Auto Answer | Forced ON
| Disabled 6 Carrier Detect (CD) | CD line signal | CD forced ON 7
Clear to send (CTS) | CTS line signal | CTS forced ON 8 * Command
recognition |CommandsNotRecognized |Cmmds Recognized
* If the settings of these switches are changed after the modem is
turned on, power must be turned off, then on, for the modem to
read the new settings.
