#Flicker Fixer

I haven't been around for a couple of months. So I might have missed what I'm
looking for. Does any of you folks out there has a Flicker Fixer? I'm planning
to buy one but would like to hear from you about any experience with FF and
monitors. Anybody tried the Zenith ZCM 1490 yet? Or NEC Multisync Plus?
Please let me know soon.

We have the Magnovox Professional Monitor (8CM738 or something). It does
a nice job with the flickerFixer as compared to a 1080 with no deinter-
lacing. I don't have much of a basis for comparison with other monitors
however.
One thing, maybe someone can comment on this, apparently MultiSync moni-
tors with flickerFixer will leave a border on either side of your Amiga
screen because they are designed to display wider screens than the Amiga
can produce. I for one find this pretty annoying. Is this truth?

Thanks for the quick answer! I've seen the Multisync II which does leave a
border. That IS annoying. The Multisync II does not allow you to set the
horizontal width which would probably do the job. If you can adjust the height
one should be able to adjust the width, too.
The Zenith ZCM has both width and height adjustment but I haven't seen it with
Flicker Fixer. And there seem to be quality control problems (3 ZCM's at a
local Heath store all have some bugs in the picture tube and/or alignment.
Please let me know if you hear more about monitors.

All high scan rate monitors (EGA, VGA, Mac II) are designed to leave a
black border around the image. Television derived displays (CGA and Amiga)
use overscan which extends the image beyond the bezel of the monitor.
Flickerfixer displays the entire amiga image within the visible region of
31.5 KHz monitors. Most users prefer to increase the workbench size using
the morerows utility. I use 688 x 470 with colors set to light grey, black,
white, red (left to right in preferences). Monitors have different ranges
of adjustment of horizontal size. One of the best monitors for use with
flicker fixer is the Taxan 770 Plus. It can be adjusted to minimize the
border and has an image size that is about an inch bigger than a NEC
multisync II. Another multiscanning monitor that is worth considering is
the Mitsubishi AUM-1381A. It is the only multiscan that is also capable of
accepting a composite input. Peter.
Both monitors are being used with flicker fixer. The Zenith ZCM-1490 is a
single frequency VGA monitor. It has better brightness and contrast than
conventional monitors. The screen is perfectly flat. It is heavier than
other monitors and has a fan. Cables can be ordered from Redmond Cable
(206) 882-2009. The NEC multisync plus is a somewhat larger than normal
multiscanning monitor (15 inch I think). Unlike the Multisync II it will
not operate with a normal Amiga because it's horizontal sync range does not
extend down to 15.75 KHz. It works fine with flicker fixer at 31.5 KHz
using the one-to-one cable supplied with the monitor. Peter.
