Remove the file sys:pc/system/sidecarsettings.table
wait a few seconds for the disk to update completely
re-boot
All should now be well, but you will have lost your saved settings
for the PC Windows. You'll have to re-select them and save them.

I'm not sure why that problem occurs. It's fairly common, several
folks have reported it. And I've noted nothing in common other than it's
opening the color window that causes problems. I've never seen it occur
the other way around (color ok, mono messed up).
