#Term programs
8 messages in this thread
Does anyone know if there is a _functioning_, _complete_ term program
that allows either 1K X-modem file transfer or Y or Z modem file transfers
in any of the DLs? (It would also be an _enormous_ help if it didn't
require an hour to set up and the transfer of 55K of files to one of my 3
boot disks that have a total of 5 free blocks between them).
I now have nearly an hour of 2400 baud access downloading 3 different
comm programs that either don't work, are incomplete, or incorrectly
documented (no y or zmodem support when they are described as having it)
and am getting a bit tired of it.

JR-Comm works for me…
I was pretty hot on JR-COMM also but… Are you running 2.0 yet? Blewie!
Thanks, Jim. I'll give it a try.

I use NComm v1.9 regularly, and it has support for Y and Z modem (no X 1K
though). I've found NComm to be a bit stabler under 2.0 then JRcomm, which
is why I use it. NComm also has a built in scripting langauge, which is
nice. I can't remember whether I got it off of CIS or Bix though….if you
can't find it here I can rumage around Bix and see if it's there for ya…

Mike,
I've been trying to use NComm. When trying to do a DL using Ymodem (I
didn't even know it had Zmodem support-nothing in the menus that I saw) the
window opens up and every few seconds it sends data-just gets no reply.

And you're downloading from CompuServe? Hmm, I've never had any problem
with NComm's Y-Modem and CIS. Dunno what to say. The Z-Modem support is
through a resident library called xprzmodem.library. If that library is
present, Z-Modem shows up as in the Protocol menu (by 'present' I mean it
has to be in the libs: directory).
Oh wait a sec…my NComm Protocol menu lists Ymodem and Ymodem-Batch. I
think Ymodem batch is the one which works on most systems, and I vaguely
remember having problems with the one just called Ymodem.
Hope this helps,
-Mike
