Does anyone know of a way to get an AmigaVision script to run out of
Startup-Sequence?
Would ARexx help at all?
Edward:
In looking for an answer to your question, I ran into a very interesting
bug in Amigavision!
I have a very simple Amigavision file, which simply shows a picture painted
by my granddaughter erin, and plays the looneytunes theme at the same time.
Since I have my setup on a hard disk, I have "assigned" Amigavision: to
that directory. So, I tried this in a cli:
Amigavision:av Amigavision:erinpic.avf
Guess what? I got a requester asking me to insert the volume
"migavision:", that's right — MIGAVISION. Seems it took off the first
letter of the file spec! So, I used the following:
Amigavision:av Aamigavision:erinpic.avf
AND IT WORKED!
So, I guess you have to add an extra letter to the AVF file's path and/or
name to use av from the cli!

Edward:
Another note: it seems, for some strange reason, that the extra letter you
put in front of the name for the avf file or path MUST be an "a".
I just cd'd to Amigavision:, and then tried:
av eerinpic.avf
Didn't work. However, when I used:
av aerinpic.avf
It worked like a charm.
Weird, eh?

That's actually not a bug, but a feature. The "a" indicates that the
following filename is to be loaded and presented. See pages 1-10 and 1-11
of the manual for details.

A FEATURE! I believe you, but, geez, who'd 'a thunk CBM, of all people,
would have stuck such a non-Amiga "feature" into a piece of software they
themselves distribute!
Seems to me they should have a very LARGE type WARNING page to alert us all
to that "feature".

Actually, I would expect most people to spot it immediately. It's
mentioned as part of the installation instructions, which should be the
first thing read out of the manual.

In fact, it is in the "Getting Started" section. Next, it follows the
heading "Hard Disk Instructions". Under "Hard Disk Instructions" it first
has a section called "If you are using Workbench". Since I was putting it
on a hard disk, and was using workbench, I did what they said. The next
section was "If you are using the CLI", since I wasn't I went to the next
section.
If I hadn't been using a hard disk, I'm not sure I would even have had that
particular two page spread open at all.

Thanks for the answer… I can hardly type fast enough… Want to get
off and try your suggestion.
Given the problems I had, it seems like it'll work though.
Really HATED to recommend this product and have it give me problems
running out of startup. Kinda important for what I do.
I'll let you know what kind of results I get.
Thanks again,
Edward Fadigan
