#CITIZEN PRINTER DRIVER
3 messages in this thread
I HAVE A CITIZEN GSX-140 COLOR PRINTER. I NEED A DRIVER FOR THE AMIGA 500.
I DOWNLOADED THE LATEST EPSON LQ2500 DRIVER FROM THE LIBRARY SINCE THE
CITIZ IS EPSON COMPATIBLE. I CONVERTED THE .LZH DRIVER FILE, BUT NOW WHAT.
HOW DO I USE IT. I LOADED IT INTO THE DEVS/PRINTER DIR IN MY WORKBENCH AND
SELECTED IT FROM THE CHANGE PRINTER DIRECTORY, BUT IT ONLY PRINTED GARBAGE.
HOW CAN I ACCESS THIS FILE FROM WORKBENCH AND ACCESS THE 360X360 PRINT
DENSITY,SMOOTHING,ETC THAT IS AVAILABLE FROM WORKBENCH. OR IS THERE A
BETTER DRIVER TO USE? HELP!
John:
I haven't heard of a specific printer driver for the GSX-140 yet but I
may be able to help a bit. Try using a JX driver. That is an EPSON JX
series. If the GSX-140 is colour and truly EPSON compatible, then it will
use the JX command set as this is EPSON's colour printer (at least it was
the initial one.). If all else fails, wait until these forums get organized
again and look for a printer driver generator program. You will need your
manual and a couple of hours. You will have to manually enter the commands
to be sent to the printer.
These should work. If I had a GSX-140 I might be able to help a little
more. Hope this shed some light.

John,
You sound like a pretty knowledgeable Citizen/Amiga user. I think
you realize that the EpsonQ driver supplied with Workbench 1.3+ works, OK,
and you are looking for a driver that supports more of the GSX-140's
features.
With that in mind, I'll say that I don't know of a driver that supports
the GSX-140 better than EpsonQ, and would ask you to post a message here if
you _do_ find something better than EpsonQ.
Also, could you list the specific functions that EpsonQ does not
support that the GSX-140 offers? Thanks a bunch.
