#Rejuvenator for A1000
7 messages in this thread
Hello all.
A few months ago some came out with a board for the A1000 called the
Rejuvenator. It gives the 1000 the new chip set and other stuff. I have
lost the article I had on it and was wondering if anyone could refresh my
memory on its features and maybe give a report if someone has used it.
Thanks.
Nick
Hello, Nick. I designed it and will be happy to discuss any Rejuvenator
questions you might have. There were a few files in AmigaTech, but with the
re-organization/expansion, I'm not sure that they survived.

Greg,
I found the transcipt of your Q & A sesion. It answered some of my
questions, but I still have a few.
1) What is the warranty?
2) does it come with the ram on it or do I add it?
3) does it come the kickstart rom?
4) did you implement the toggle switch to allow use of older
versions of kickstart?
5) does it work with an Alegra memory expansion? it works of the
external bus.
Not too many questions I hope.
Thanks,
Nick
Answers as follows:
1) 90 days; if sent to Expert for installation ($35 charge) 1 year.
2) Standard configuration is with RAM., but without RAM pricing may be
available.
3) The Kickstart ROM is extra. The machine works with the kickstart
disk without the ROM.
4) If you but the ROM from Expert, they include the toggle switch. It
just connects to a two pin jumper on the board.
5) The Rejuvenator works fine with a 512K Alegra, the 2 Meg is slightly
more noise sensitive. The upgrade docs mentions not to use certain RAMs and
we have seen that was true. If you ground the expansion bus, I don't think
there will be a problem.

Greg,
Thanks. I still can't decide if I want to upgrade my 1000 with a
Rejuvenator and a hard drive (which are way to expensive), get a 3000 ( can
get one as a developer), or just forget the Amiga and replace my 286 with a
386 and stick to the IBM.

Nick,
That board was designed by Greg Tibbs, and he is a regular participant
here. I'm sure he'll tell you all about it. In the meantime, you might
look in Library 3 for a transcript of a formal conference he held here a
few months ago, in which he discussed the Rejuvenator at length and in
depth.

Greg Tibbs designed it; I believe a company called "Expert Systems" is
marketing it.
Greg is active here on CIS, you can talk to him here.
