DeluxePrintII help
4 messages in this thread
I recently purchased DeluxePrintII, but I can't get it going from my hard
drive. Everything copied over okay, but everytime I try to invoke it, I get
a requestor telling me "Can't start program without language directory" The
language directory is there, and seems to be okay. It is included in the
path, so I'm at a loss. Suggestions?
Dwayne,
Try putting the language directory in the same directory as
DeluxePrint.
Most, if not all, programs don't follow the command search path
(which is what is set by the PATH command) when looking for associated
files. They either look in the current directory, or in a specific
directory (sometimes preceeded by an assign'ed device)/set of directories.

You were right. Acyually, I had the language directory there already, but I
was invoking the program from the Shell. As long as I change to the DPrint
dirctory before I invoke it, it works fine.
Thanks…
Dwayne,
You might want to do what I do:
1. delete your dprint directory from your search path.
2. create a script command that is in your search path (don't
forget to set the script bit [ protect <filename> +s ]) that simply reads
something like this:
cd <dprint directory wherever that may be>
deluxeprintII (or whatever the specific filename is)
That's it…that way, no matter where you are you simply type DP
(or whatever you want the script file called) and it'll take care of the
directory change and run the program. If you need an assign, you can put
that in the script file also.
With the script bit set, no need to EXECUTE <filename> for the
script file…the shell will figure that out all by itself.
