There would appear to be something wrong with the files in Library 8. I have tries to download Centur.zip three times today and each time the down load failed, after several hundred bytes, with the message "Time out…". The first time I tried to download I got 229 blocks into the files before gettting the message. The second time I got 119. Then later in the evening I got 536 blocks in before the download froze up. I am using the Access telecomunications program and have not had any trouble downloading large files before.

Paul, I redownloaded CENTUR.ZIP and the program is intact. I don't know why you have a failed transfer, it could be just about anything from a loose serial cable to extremely noisy phone line. If you used a terminal program that supported B+ protocol (JRComm and Whap come to mind) you could resume the download at the point of failure. -sja

Paul, I'm not sure if this is the case, but suspect it is: I was on here earlier today and the system was responding extremely slowly. It's quite likely that this would have caused problems downloading, since there were a number of times when the system seemed to "go to sleep" for 10 to 20 seconds at a time. It would have been extremely difficult to download a file during that time period, as most protocol downloads do time-out after a while. I'd try the download again when the system is behaving itself better. Hope this helps… ..BobR ..White Wolf Productions, Inc.

Paul, I downloaded that file myself, using Access! last night…I didn't have any problems. Not sure what the problem might have been, perhaps a noisy phone line…or the CIS node may have been flakey. Don
