Hello, I have a 14.4k HST modem, and am having some trouble with it.
First, I have it set they way it should be (I think!) and I am still
getting a cps of 580!!! At 19200!!! What am I doing wrong? I ran AMIMODEM
and did exactly what it told me to do.. I am a mere novice so please, try
to help me out in layman's terms! Thanks!

Jack,
check your preferences and make sure that you have your serial port set
for 19.2K. Also, do an ATI4 and see if you have &B1 indicated (if not, set
it with AT&B1&W). BTW, if you already have those settings, the problem
might be noisy lines. The modem will only use as much speed as it can get
away with without losing information.
