Hi Folks on a few BBS that I have been on recently VIRUSX 5.0 was up in
their FILES sections. Is this a legitimate (sp?) version of VirusX?? I
downloaded it and looked at the docs but dared not run it until I found
out. Althought the title of the VirusX5.0 doc file says 5.0, in the actual
docs themselves only 4.4 is mentioned.

I think I remember reading that it is a virus. I think the new real version
is numbered 4.0.1, or something like that. I would only trust versions I
got from National boards like Cserve where you can be sure that the Sysops
tested the program before making it available. Mike

VirusX 4.4 was definitely bogus, Steve Tibbett himself said so. I
assume he wouldn't have made such a typo in his own docs, so I would assume
5.0 is also. Steve uploaded 4.01 here not too many weeks ago.

Sounds very bogus to me, as I always download the updates here and the last
I saw was 4.01.

In his latest upload of VirusX, v4.01, Steve Tibbett mentions that there
are some bogus versions of VirusX out and about. One that I remember him
specifcally mentioning is v5.0. I would not download the file, and I
suggest that you inform the SYSOP there that the file is probably bogus.
