You may be kicking yourself for the money investment in a Mac and the lack
of information and support in using a Mac for video. And you will probably
never get decent (never mind professional) animated output from the Mac at
any price without investing in very time-consuming methods. Take my word
for it, as a professional videographer titler, the extra margin of money
and time for the Mac will probably never pay for itself before your
equipment is obsolete.
..and the Mac will probably never have any kind of Amiga compatibility.
I am real impressed with the Video Toaster reveiw in Amiga World this
month. It looks like just what I have been wanting to do with with my
wedding video business. Plus, it looks like I'm saving $3000+. Plus, it
appears that all of the video magazines talk about is Amiga…IBM/PCs some,
and M Macs rarely. What kind of things do you do on video with yours? What
kind of a configuration do you have? Thanks!
I think the $3000+ amount you stated is wayyyyy too low. a real DVE would
cost at least $10,000, not to mention the cost of a switcher etc. etc. But
the only problem is, if you were to put your name on the waiting list TODAY
for a Toaster you will probably have to wait at least 7 months before they
get to your name ( assuming of course IF they started shipping them
tomorrow.
